WE ARE KEATS AND THIS IS WHAT WE STAND FOR

At Keats, we share the belief that all children, regardless of their origin, gender, socio-economic status or other differences, should have the right to equal educational opportunities.

We believe that problems can only be overcome if society is made aware of them and acts together.

WE ARE KEATS AND THIS IS OUR STORY

Keats was created in December 2018 at the University of Zurich as part of a course (Social Entrepreneurship), which was designed as a competition. Our project was awarded the best business plan and pitch. Since then we have been working hard to make our project a reality.

At the beginning of 2019, we added an app developer to our team and worked with him to develop a functional prototype of our app. We also went to talk to school principals, parents and teachers to find out their needs and suggestions. Since autumn 2019 we have initiated a collaboration with a school in Lucerne. Our newest member since the beginning of 2020 works in UX design and is responsible for developing the usability of our app.

ANAÏS

(CO-FOUNDER)

As a child of non-German speaking parents, I know how difficult integration can be. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to get involved to make it easier for those affected and to promote an open and tolerant society. I am convinced that language, a good portion of curiosity and an understanding of other perspectives are the main ingredients for integration. With Keats, I want to promote this and offer children and parents an opportunity for exchange.

NITHU

(CO-FOUNDER)

I co-founded Keats because, as a child with a migrant background, I have lived the situation of not being able to express myself well enough due to language barriers. I would like to contribute my personal experience to make it easier for children to come into contact with one another in today's society.

(CORE TEAM & UX, UI DESIGN)

I joined the Keats-team because I want more equal opportunities for everyone. I am responsible for bright colours and that you feel really comfortable using the app.

(CORE TEAM & COMMUNICATION)

I joined Keats because promoting language skills for children is important to me. Due to my migration experiences, I have a special relationship to languages that have shaped my identity as well as my educational and career paths. So I know how important it is to get in contact with people and to learn languages through them and with them. I would like to use my multilingualism and cultural diversity to address families and their children from different linguistic communities in Switzerland and to get them excited about Keats. Having lunch together can be a small but significant and lasting step towards more cultural interest and solidarity.

(CORE TEAM & DEVELOPMENT )

I joined Keats because I know from my own experience what it means to have to learn a new language and make new friends. Through Keats, opportunities to connect with locals and to integrate are created. With the help of modern technology and my knowledge, I would like to make my contribution to Keats.

(CORE TEAM & DEVELOPMENT)

I joined Keats because I think technology can bring different families together and allow them to organise a lunch exchange in the easiest possible way. I want to use technology to help create an opportunity for children to learn more languages.
